![]() During October, our literary focus was on the book, Room On The Broom, which tells the story of a kind witch and her cat who make room for some unlikely friends that end up helping out in the end. The class absolutely loved it! We read the book several times and did activities connecting our monthly class lessons. We explored different ways to have fun and learn at the same time. ![]() To promote investigation, increase vocabulary and learn about being responsible, each child chose one word from the book that they didn’t know and became “investigators”, taking the word home and asking their family for the definition. The next day they came to class and shared what they had learned. ![]() We also made a witch shape craft to review our shapes and colors. For Science time in our Fun Friday, we performed the experiment “Fizzing mud”, using baking soda, food coloring and a foam cat cut out for hiding! Each child made their own ball of mud with the cat inside and they discovered that if we combine baking soda and vinegar, it causes a chemical reaction with a lot of bubbles!! Then, the cat reappears!! Our class had so much fun learning through Room on the Broom!
